Two of the champions that I met this weekend while attending the Bill Glass Champions for Life San Bernardino Weekend of Champions were Margaret and Rufus.
I wanted to share these new friends with you because there is a notion among "able-bodied" people that they have many valid excuses for not participating in ministry outreach such as the Weekend of Champions. For that matter, there is a notion held by many that they are not able to even attend to the children in the nursery.
Let me tell you why this became a very real problem for me this weekend. Margaret has CP, and she is diabetic. She also suffers from a form of arthritis that has had her in a wheelchair for the three months preceding this event. Osteoarthritis is nothing to play with. As if that is not enough to get your attention, she also has MS.
Now, my new friend, Margaret is so peaceful, that she probably would be very understanding as to why you didn't come. I, on the other hand, am waiting for the day when we stand in heaven and she is so loaded with her rewards that her arms are not even able to contain them!
